Chasing Shadows - Episode 6

Adebisi sat on her bed, gripping the bottle of pills in her hands.

Her heart was racing, but this time, it wasn’t just from anxiety.

It was from decision.

She had been here before, staring at the medication, wondering if she could function without it.

But tonight was different.

Tonight, she was fighting back.

The journey had started with exposing the lies.

Anxiety had whispered to her for years.

"You’re not enough."
"You’ll never get better."
"God has abandoned you."

And she had believed them.

Until Pastor Segun told her: “You cannot fight an enemy you won’t expose.”

So she started writing them down.

Every anxious thought.
Every fear.
Every lie that had kept her trapped.

And next to each one, she wrote what God actually said.

"I am not enough?" God’s grace is sufficient. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

"I will never get better?" God is my healer. (Psalm 147:3)

"God has abandoned me?" He will never leave me. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

At first, it felt silly.

But over time, as she spoke God’s word, the lies grew quieter.

The second step was breaking the patterns.

Anxiety wasn’t just in her mind, it was in her habits.

She had numbed herself with shopping, endless scrolling, distractions.

She had depended on the pills to function.

But now?

She was confronting the things that fed her anxiety.

With the help of her doctor, she started adjusting her medication, slowly, carefully.

She deleted shopping apps from her phone.
She gave Tola access to her bank account to keep her accountable.
She replaced mindless scrolling with intentional prayer.

It wasn’t easy.

Some days, she failed.

But each time, she got back up.

Adéniké - Episode 4

"What are you doing here, Nike. It's late." David blurted out. Smiling, Nike walked into the little room and made herself comfortable on the bed.  With crossed legs and poised lips, she pointed at David. "I came to keep you company."  David looked straight at her. Although her body begged for his touch, her eyes said otherwise. He thought they looked confused and this caused him to take a step backwards.  "Nike, stop walking towards me." He snapped and shifted backwards slowly.  "What is wrong with you!".  David thought of a way out of the situation but found himself struck by her beauty.  "Oh! She looks so beautiful! Her legs are so long and attractive.  Could this be the Lord presenting pleasure to me on a platter of gold? What if this is a gift from the Lord. No wonder I have been so endeared to her." Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourse...
