Creator’s Call

Sometimes it's not just the sound we make, Or the melody, but the impact we stake. When I sing, it's like a journey untold, Seeking the climax, my heart's story unfolds. At times I find it, soaring high and free, But sometimes it eludes, a burden to me. There's much to pray for, me and the world at large, Yet, often, it's us girls my prayers do charge. I ponder, have I answered some divine call? Or is it just a "call," the name we install? I obey the Lord, with no need to debate, For when I rebelled, I still followed fate's gate. Why waste time, when time itself intervenes, Guiding my path, my choices it screens? I've let it lead, with no complaint or cry, In its tender grasp, I learn and still fly high. This is how I've coped, in the Lord's embrace, Growing through challenges, finding my place. With time as my guide, I trust in its flow, In its gentle hands, I continue to grow.

A Timeless Promise

I cherish those bedtime tales of yore, Where stories kissed my cradle, forevermore, Before the midnight crow would softly caw, My mother's arms would twine me, free from flaw. In her embrace, my tiny face would rest, As soothing tales unraveled, at their best. The Israelites' journey through Egypt's plight, Echoed in her voice, a beacon in the night. "Perhaps tomorrow or the day that's next, None knew the time," my mother softly text, To my young ears, she whispered words of grace, A timeless promise, in that warm embrace. Now her hair's turned gray, a sign of time's flow, My oranges, once young, have begun to grow. Mature bugs and trips now come to partake, In the story of our lives, at dawn's break. But our tale's not over, we must believe, In pages yet unwritten, we'll perceive. A new chapter, perhaps, a Moses near, To lead us to a future free from fear. Perhaps this election or the next in line, The moment...

A Girl’s Longing Flame

In La La Land, my heart did dwell, Dreaming of a love, I couldn't quite tell. In my mind, he was the one, A world of fantasies, I had spun. I gave my all, my love, my care, For in my dreams, he was always there. His silent signals, a subtle dance, Yet, I held onto hope's fragile chance. In the castle of my mind, a home we'd build, As if our fates were already sealed. But alas, reality would intervene, A truth so painful, yet unseen. He loved another, my heart did break, In tears and sorrow, I'd wake. Why did he play with my heart so dear? Those sweet kisses, now a bitter tear. I was a fool, a romantic blind, In my own world, lost in my mind. One-sided love, I couldn't see, My heartache a cruel mystery. But time has passed, wounds have healed, Now I see what was concealed. He's just like any other, no more, No special magic, like times of yore. That inexplicable pull, now a distant memory, Was it love, or just a fantasy? Not mere lust o...

Don’t be a People Pleaser!

I noticed that when I was younger I was much bolder than when I grew up. When I was younger I did things that I wanted to do regardless of people’s perception. I spoke up for things that are wrong regardless of the situation. I boldly wrote about Christ and defended Him at every opportunity I get. So what changed? I noticed that as I began to grow older, I began to care too much about people’s opinion, what they think, how they would react if I take a particular step. So regardless of whether I was right or not I realised that I would rather not speak than be misinterpreted or be secluded. Although I didn’t know at the time but the need to be accepted was silencing me unconsciously. I just noticed that things I would do before without thinking twice was now something I couldn’t summon the courage to do. I lost my boldness. I lost my voice nd in the bid to always want to please everyone and not offend anyone I lost myself too. How did I recover? I realised that ✅  Not everyone would...

Lekki Tollgate Massacre

We'll always remember, the pain so deep, Your heartless acts, in our minds they sleep. Uniforms and violence, tearing us apart, While we sang our anthem, with hopeful hearts. We'll always remember, the flag that waved high, Meant to protect us, but it made us cry. We were unarmed, yet you chose to kill, Bullets in the air, our hope stood still. We'll always remember, mothers' endless tears, Fathers' broken pride, their greatest fears. Brothers' sorrow for the siblings they lost, Our only crime was speaking up, at a great cost. We'll always remember, you hid your cruel deeds, By taking innocent lives, planting dark seeds. Our own forced into exile, far from home, For daring to voice the truth, we're forced to roam. Until our land is free, we'll keep the flame, In our hearts, we carry the weight of the blame. But together we'll stand, our voices strong, In unity, we'll fight for justice all along. In the green of our la...

Symphony of Dreams

Beneath the sky, I hum with every beat, Envisioning a future, oh, so sweet. Among a sea of faces, there I stand, In learning's gentle grasp, my dreams expand. Amidst the doubts and voices that do chime, I shut my ears, embrace the hump of time. For in its rhythmic throb, I've found a way, To chase the brighter dawn of a new day. Do you, too, hear that hopeful hump's refrain? A melody that soothes the heart's own pain. No, I'm not mad; it's true, I bear this scope, The sound of hope in every hump, a trope. In every hump, a symphony of dreams, With whispered promises, life's canvas gleams.
