So she fought back.
She closed her eyes.
She whispered Scripture.
She reminded herself that she was not alone.
And for the first time in years, the anxiety didn’t win.
—
So now, as she sat with the bottle of pills in her hands, she knew…
She knew this wasn’t about throwing the pills away in some dramatic, life-changing moment.
It was going to take trusting God one step at a time.
She took a deep breath.
Placed the bottle back on the table.
And whispered, “God, I trust You.”
Healing wasn’t a straight line.
She has struggled so much with setbacks.
There were days she wondered if she’d ever be free.
But she noticed that day by day, battle by battle, prayer by prayer…
She was winning.
And that?
That was healing.
……..
Weeks turned into months.
Adebisi wasn’t just surviving anymore, she was thriving.
She began writing again, sharing her testimony online.
She even got a promotion at work, a role she once thought she wasn’t capable of handling.
But most importantly…
She had found God again.
Not as a distant figure in the sky.
Not as a routine or obligation.
But as a Father. A Friend. A Deliverer.
And that was when she knew…
She was never going back to the darkness.
Because the light inside her was stronger than anything that had tried to break her.
……..
One evening, after Bible study, a girl approached her.
“Adebisi… can I talk to you?”
She was young. Probably in her early twenties. Her hands trembled. Her eyes held a familiar fear.
“I think I have a problem,” she whispered.
Adebisi saw herself in those words.
She reached out and took the girl’s hands.
“You’re not alone,” she said. “And you don’t have to fight this by yourself.”
………
That night, she stood on her balcony, looking out at the city lights.
Once, she had felt lost in the darkness.
But now?
She had light.
And she would use it to help others find their way home.
THE END.
Author’s Note
When I was writing this story, the Lord told me it wasn’t a storyline for everyone but that I needed to write it for that particular person who will read it and heal, that one who would read it and hope would be re-ignited.
Personally, this story reminded me that God’s grace his sufficient, His love is real, his intentionality is real and those times when it feels like He has forgotten you and it seems like you are all alone in the whole wide world, you see those times? He never left you, He was right there with you the whole time. It could be in form of Tola, it could be in form of Pastor Segun, but He never left you, He never did.
I hope this story helped you see that❤️
